Express Yourself!™ Teens Celebrate One Year of International Radio Broadcasting on Voice America Kids Network

One year ago on November 22, teen coach and radio producer, Cynthia Brian along with high school senior, Steven Zhou and Los Angeles teen, Chan Dara Paschal, launched the new teen program, Express Yourself!™ They introduced the STAR on-air reporters consisting of locals Courtney Cheng, Vivien Lee, Jacqueline Tao, Eric Pawlakos, and Rachel Glass to the Voice America Kids Network.

 In the summer of 2011, Network Director for World Talk Radio, Brandy Jackson, and Network Director for Voice America Kids had approached Cynthia Brian, a longtime producer and host of Starstyle®-Be the Star You Are!® on World Talk Radio ( www.voiceamerica.com/worldtalkradio/vshow.aspx?sid=764), to see if she’d be interesting in creating a teen radio show for the fledgling Voice America Kids Network. Cynthia’s specialty for over two decades has been coaching teens for acting, writing, and presentations and she is the author of the award winning book, Be the Star You Are!® for Teens. As the Founder and Executive Director of Be the Star You Are!® 501 c3 literacy and positive media charity (

www.BetheStarYouAre.org), Cynthia was already mentoring young people. She jumped at the opportunity and the rest is history.

Since the first air date of November 22, 2011, Express Yourself teens have broadcast a fresh new show every Tuesday at NOON PT at www.voiceamerica.com/show/2014/express-yourself. Under the astute direction of Perry Damone and engineering from Cornelius Hanna and Bruce Solsten, the program has become a favorite on the network and in the world. The purpose of Express Yourself ( www.ExpressYourselfTeenRadio.com)is to give teens a voice and empower them to express their opinions while being true to themselves.. It didn’t take long before experts, authors, sports figures, and celebrities from around the globe were being interviewed. The tagline for the show, “Where teens talk and the world listens has become a self-fulfilling prophecy with the on-air STAR team expanding to include teen contributors from around the country.

Last June when host Steven Zhou graduated, Miramonte junior, Youngjoo Ahn moved into the main host position. When asked about her experience in being on the radio, Youngjoo enthusiastically replied, “ I never thought I’d be published in the newspaper nor be the host of the a top rated teen radio program in the world, but because of the mentorship of Cynthia Brian and Be the Star You Are I am living the dream Other team members feel the same. "Super Girl Guide" Radio Show Launches January 2013 on VoiceAmerica Kids Channel

WHAT: Severson Sisters and Voice America Kids Radio are calling all middle-school Super Girls in the Valley in search of TWO Super Girls to co-host a network radio show launching in January 2013 called the Super Girl Guide Radio Show.

The Super Girl Guide Radio Show will focus on everyday life issues girls face today. The co-hosts will discuss issues around these four core values – Education, Awareness, Playfulness and Inspiration.

The co-hosts will talk about issues happening at school, within their community, during their afterschool activities and the people in their lives who inspire them.

Severson Sisters, a bullying-solutions and self-compassion non-profit headquartered in Phoenix, will help to guide the conversation with its curriculum designed to empower girls to live their life as their awesome, authentic super self.

Severson Sisters aims to inspire all girls to be Super Girls and the Super Girl Guide Radio Show is an extension of its mission.

The Super Girl Guide Radio Show will be an hour-long hosted every week at the Voice America Kids studio in Scottsdale. The co-hosts will be responsible for the content of the show every week, as well as scheduling regular guests who fit into the overall theme of the show.

In August of 2010 Perry Damone Founder and Chairman of the KidStar Radio Network met an incredible gentleman with an extraordinary vision by the name of Jeff Spenard. They have asked her to travel to Mc Donald’s headquarters in Oak Brook Illinois to meet up with Chef Dan Coudreaut who is the head chef for the McDonald’s franchise and help create the new Healthy Kids Happy Meal! This is huge for us as this could mean sponsorship for her show on VAK. Our girl has also been asked back to appear on the Wendy Williams Show in November and also spring of 2013. GREAT NEWS!!

VOICE AMERICA KIDS is again traveling to Houston end of September 2012, to train our new hosts and also record our very first show from Texas Children’s Hospital, PURPLE SONGS CAN FLY. This is the program that focuses on kids that are undergoing chemo and other treatments for cancer and are helped through the writing and recording of their original songs. Everything is a go and approved, we will be launching the show in the fall and will have interviews with the kids, doctors, nurses and included will be the music that the children have written with the help of professional musicians and producers in the industry, will keep you posted. This program in Houston has had David Foster involved along with Olivia Newton John and several other high profile celebrities. I have been looking forward to this project for almost a year now and it’s finally going to happen.

“Voice America Kids Radio Network “Cool Kids Cook” host Kid Chef Eliana Makes List of “10 Most Famous Kid Critics and Cooks”

Named by Fox News and The Daily Meal as one of the world’s “10 Most Famous Kid Critics and Cooks,” 12 year old Kid Chef Eliana grew up in a family of cooks. With grandparents from Cajun Louisiana, the Philippines, Cuba, and Honduras, Eliana’s recipes have international flair. She loves traveling and spending time in the kitchen with her family. Eliana says, “I love being from New Orleans. There is so much food inspiration here!” Eliana’s first cookbook, Eliana Cooks! Recipes for Creative Kids was released in October 2010.
